Rise

And here is the 'final'. All
the text is still really just a
palce holder. I'm not at all
sure what I want it to say,
so at the moment it doesn't
really say anything at all...

I might make some adjustments
to her hair as well... hence the
'final' in perenthacies...

Also, doing the white text was
really really fucking annoying.

I like the feeling of motion you have in her hair. Very cool work Sail.

Thanks, Robb... the whole thing still needs some tweaking though.

As my expressive drawing course comes to an end I've learned that the language incorporated in a piece need not actually say anything specifically at all. In fact it really just takes on a great form of its own, regardless of its relevancy.

I know there the Asian demographic would be more prone to read it for what it is, but as an English speaking American, it really just takes on a beautiful form to me.

me 2cents.

I know that Americans are very aesthetically interested in Japanese characters... and the Japaneses are aesthetically interested in English characters. Though, from what I've been told, the Japanese seem to care far less about what the English says, they just appreciate the aesthetics of it. So, I'm not too worried about it, but it's an opportunity to say something, without really saying it... and a part of me doesn't want to squander that.

And yeah, it takes on a life beyond what it says as simply an aesthetic.

Na, they seem to like it. It's interesting the fascination that the Japanese and Americans share for each others culture. I guess the grass is always greener or something.

These are really great. I would love to see a whole sketch book filled with these.

Yeah, well I do want to do an entire moleskin of 'sketch' paintings like this. Just fill it with pretty girls faces or something... I'm doing some warm ups of the idea in my current moleskin... but I'll get a new one soon, and start on that. Put up a blog or website dedicated to it.
