自画像

A self portrait.

Ink wash and pencil on
paper... rather quickly.

You can't really see it,
but that's my new
Edward Gorey font!

this is really cool. I love the wash texture, and I get an idea of digital experiences almost taking over human interaction experiences. It's really nice

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell, so there is that blurring of the line between man and technology. Plus I just started reading GitS 1.5 Human Error Processor. So, it was in the back of my mind.

It's also sort of a response (and joke) about the myspace cultures idea of self portraits done with your cell phone in a mirror... taken to new extremes.

I'm still not 100% on the framing of the image. But, glad you like it.

actually, in my opinion, your framing seems perfect because of how it echoes the cell phone shape and emphasizes your point. Even the monochrome of this helps to emphasize. It's really cool. (I totally love the GIS Stand Alone Complex Series - such awesome stories there!)

Yeah... I guess it does. I didn't really think about that. I'll leave it alone then. Cheers!

I'm a fucking addict for the Stand Alone Complex.

I think I like season 1 more than 2 but, man do I love that show. They're doing a movie, that should be out in Japan by now. It's called Solid State Society. This is in the SAC continuity not the movie continuity.

I'm also waiting for an email of the complete but untranslated Human Error Processor series!

I like this one alot. The framing is great, and I like the fact that you did a self portrait without including any facial features.

That was the main idea that I started with... I thought it was clever.

I'm struggling on a piece today. I wish they were all as easy as this self portrait.

I totally dig this one.

I'd say more, but others seem to have said it all already.

Thanks, Neil!

Thanks for stopping by! In retrospect, I'm rather pleased with how this one turned out.

Cheers.
